Briefly describe your role and responsibilities.

A marketing recruiter talking to marketers about recruitment marketing whilst placing marketeers into recruitment unable to actually do marketing himself ... In short.

How and why did you get into recruitment?

For as long as I remember I always wanted to be a recruiter, I would dress up in a suit with a headset on as a child closing deals, pitching roles, and asking my parents for my pocket money quarterly. It is amazing to see my childhood dream come true. …in truth you often fall into recruitment because of the financial opportunity and later fall in love with the job.

What's the first time you do when you get into work in the morning?

Get a Venti americano from Starbucks and go through mine and the team's daily plan.

What's your favorite part of the day?

When I'm 3 coffees deep and "Tell me something good comes on".

What is the most challenging part of your job?

Working on multiple projects all at different stages. I can’t juggle but this would be the closest I could get to it!

What keeps you motivated?

Seeing people around me succeed in the business along with being able to support my clothing addictions.

What piece of advice would you give to someone starting out in recruitment?

Ask as many questions from as many people as possible, and get a decent karaoke song lined up.

Describe your role & responsibilities in one sentence.

I am a recruiter placing Compliance professionals into the Recruitment industry...confusing I know. My role is 360 which means I business develop to obtain new clients and roles, but also source candidates and run the process from start to finish! This can include: Writing adverts, term negotiation, developing candidate relationships, pitching roles and running the recruitment process - liaising with clients and candidates

How and why did you get into recruitment?

I fell into recruitment accidentally, I was previously a dancer so not remotely related. However during the pandemic work dried up and I started doing some social media bits for Camino. From there, I got to know the company, the role and the culture and decided to give it a go!

What’s the first thing you do when you get to work in the morning?

The first thing I do is, get a coffee and go through all of my emails from the day before. I then look at what interviews are taking place that day and call my candidates for some interview prep!

What’s your favourite part of the day?

Favourite part of the day varies, it depends what I have for lunch...

What’s the most challenging part of your job?

The most challenging part of my job is two fold. Understanding that recruitment really IS a rollercoaster. One week it can be your best performing week and the next could be dry. It's all depending on the market which is ever changing and totally unpredictable. That and constantly feeling the need to deliver on every role which is pretty unrealistic. It's important to set expectations early on.

What keeps you motivated?

I have two motivations, one for myself and one for others. Recruitment is an excellent way to earn and save money. My goal is to buy a house with my partner, therefore I'm motivated to make that a reality. The other motivation would be the feeling and reward of making a difference to peoples lives. It gives me such pleasure to place people into a company and role I know with enable them with lots of opportunities and success.

What piece of advice would you give someone starting out in recruitment?

My advice would be to never stop learning. Speak to everyone you can, ask questions and never let the ball drop (or try not to).
