Responsibilities:

  • Lead the budgeting process; prepare annual budgets, budget revisions and long-term business plans.

  • Monitor financial performance, analyse variance against budgets and provide detailed forecasts.

  • Perform financial modelling, scenario analysis, and long-term financial planning to guide business decisions.

  • Analyse financial data and present insights to support decision-making. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data and reports.

  • Create and present financial reports (management accounts), dashboards and presentations to senior management, board of directors, investors and other stakeholders.

  • Lead various ‘scale-up’ finance projects to support the growth of the business.

  • Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. Implement effective financial controls and procedures.

  • Manage cash flow and working capital on a daily basis. Oversee investment strategies of the business to ensure optimal use of funds. Maintain banking relationships and monitor liquidity.

  • Ensure compliance with HMRC’s tax regulations and reporting requirements, e.g. VAT, income tax, payroll taxes, pension, R&D tax claim. Optimize the company’s tax strategy.

  • Build strong relationships and liaise with external stakeholders including auditors, investors, banks and third party advisors.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with financial regulations and industry standards. Design accounting policies, improve processes and identify and mitigate financial risks.

  • Lead business transition projects and implement software/tools to improve processes. Stay updated on financial technologies and tools to continuously streamline financial operations and reporting.

  • Any other tasks as may be reasonably required in the capacity of the Finance Manager

Ideal candidate:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified accountant or 8+ years of part-qualified experience

  • Experience working in the staffing/recruiting industry

  • Strong technical knowledge within excel

  • Knowledge of Xero Accounting Software

  • Knowledge of current UK accounting standards and HMRC regulations

  • A flexible approach to work within a rapidly changing environment and the ability to take on a variety of tasks and manage competing timescales/deadlines effectively

  • Experience working in a start-up/scale up environment
